Omix factum for PROA

Carmelo Sobrino colaborated in the “Omix factum” project to raise money for the Artists' Asistance Program (PROA) of the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico. For this project Andrés Salas had created a wooden, 3 feet high human sculpture and the Museum had invited 35 artists to be creative with it. All the figures were on display between November 3rd and 15th, 2007 and were for sale during the “Grand Art Auction" at the MAPR (Nov 15, 2007).

Sobrino @ Homespot
Carmelo Sobrino showed recent works under the title "Vecindarios" ("neighbourhoods") from Sept. 6th, 7 pm on at Homespot, Paseo Covadonga # 52, Puerta de Tierra (San Juan, Puerto Rico).
This exhibition consisted of about 20 works in various forms and medias. The paintings, drawings and sculptures portrait communities and the environment on the island. “These works allude to our communities and personalities. They are psycological studies that enter in a dialog with our culture... the discurse includes my preocupation with the environment and talks about the necesity of creating awareness", said Sobrino.
